Thursday 21st November 2019. The UK National Drum Fair and The Studio, Palace Theatre, Redditch host a monthly drumming performance clinic inviting some of the UK’s top drumming talent to perform. Sticky Wickett was the guest on this occasion. He showed and played historic drums and techniques from the 1940s onwards demonstrating how styles evolved. Sticky invited double bassist, Geoff Tooley, and me, as regular members of his band, to provide musical examples.

There was a lovely listening audience and we were very well looked after by the friendly staff.

5th May 2018. What a great gig with Spicy Jazz at a charity concert at St. Nicholas Church, Kenilworth, raising funds for Myton Hospices. Bob Jackson, trombone, Zoltan Sagi, clarinet and alto, Sticky Wicket, drums, Steve Kershaw, double bass) and me on the ironing board piano. The band is so good that we decided to stay together after the war.

June 4th, 2009. The welcoming Burgandy Wine Bar in Kendal, Cumbria, hosted an evening of Bob Flag’s hilarious Jazz Kabaret. Bob on alto, wigs, masks and hats, Ted Richards, drums, Rob Steele, double bass and me at the piano. Different but a great night of jazz and comedy.
